NASA joins world-leading industrial actors for unique climate meeting in northern Sweden

Next year, some of the world’s leading industrial actors will be gathering for the first time in northern Sweden for the Demo North Summit, a climate conference on the topic of how progressive industry changes our society. NASA is now the latest addition to the line-up, and will be joining global players such as Facebook and Northvolt, along with Swedish companies such as LKAB, Vattenfall, Hybrit, SunPine, Luleå University of Technology and the vehicle test industry.
Denise Thaller Director, Environmental Management Division at NASA, will be keynote speaker at Demo North.

Demo North Summit will be the first time that NASA participates as official representatives on a public event in Sweden. The purpose of Demo North Summit is to share and spread knowledge on how industries can make technological leaps, and how northern Sweden offers the necessary resources to do so. Demo North Summit is expected to attract 250 participants from around the world, and is taking place in Luleå and Piteå on the 26-28th of February 2020.

Regulations from policymakers and politicians, and changes in customers’ behaviors, have not proven to have enough effect for the climate change. As a result, the industry is now have a great accountability in taking responsibility for their emissions, and they intend to do so through innovations and technological shifts. Northern Sweden is a global leader in tests and technological shifts within industries such as steel, space, transport, mining, energy, forestry, chemicals, batteries and the material industry.

In addition to a conference, Demo North Summit also includes technical visits to industry leading projects and presentations on how to effectively implement climate efficient solutions in industrial applications.

– This is probably the most important conference in northern Europe next year, concidering both the economy and the climate. When a player like NASA comes to join us to share about why northern Sweden is the right place for their tests, it is an acknowledgement that we have achieved a lot and that northern Sweden is an important hub for the industrial climate adaption going forward, says Jörgen Erikssson, CEO of Invest in Norrbotten.

Invest in Norrbotten, Luleå University of Technology and Sparbanken Nord are the initiators of the Demo North Summit, and the event will be hosted for the first time during 2020. Read more about Demo North Summit on www.demonorth.com
